Meet Poppy
Meet Poppy, the official kitchen supervisor, cheerful observer, and constant companion of Recipnest!
Poppy is a cheerful tan-and-white corgi with bright eyes, upright ears, and an impressive ability to appear whenever Emma begins preparing a recipe.
She quickly became part of Emma Carter’s everyday routine and eventually part of Recipnest too. Whether Emma is organizing ingredients, testing a recipe, arranging a finished dish, or working at the kitchen table, Poppy is rarely far away.
She is alert, affectionate, curious, and always interested in whatever is happening around her. Most of the time, she simply stays nearby and watches Emma work as though supervising the entire process.
Why the name Poppy?
Poppy’s name feels perfectly suited to her.
Her warm coloring, bright personality, expressive face, and energetic curiosity make the name feel natural.
She may look intensely focused when something is happening in the kitchen, but behind that serious expression is an affectionate companion who simply enjoys being close to Emma.
Kitchen supervision
Poppy is the official kitchen supervisor around here.
She does not taste the recipes, and all ingredients and prepared dishes are kept safely out of her reach. Her role is mostly observational: watching Emma prepare ingredients, listening to the sounds of cooking, and inspecting the finished result from a safe distance.
Some days she settles near the kitchen table. On others, she finds a comfortable nearby spot and watches until the cooking is finished.
She is especially attentive during breakfast photography, when colorful berries, warm pancakes, and maple syrup are arranged in front of the camera.
Photo bombing
Every time food is photographed for Recipnest, Poppy seems to know exactly where the camera is.
She may sit beside the photography table, appear behind a plate, watch from the edge of the kitchen, or quietly move into the background just before Emma takes the photograph.
Sometimes her ears, paws, or curious face appear unexpectedly in the frame. On other occasions, she sits so perfectly beside the finished dish that she becomes part of the photograph herself.
Emma always keeps her at a safe distance from ingredients that are unsuitable for dogs, especially chocolate, coffee, and other foods that are not intended for her.
Life outside the kitchen
Poppy’s day is not entirely devoted to supervising recipes.
She enjoys accompanying Emma through everyday routines, exploring new surroundings, and staying close whenever something interesting is happening.
At home, she prefers comfortable places near the kitchen, sunny spots, soft blankets, and anywhere she can keep an eye on what Emma is doing.
After a busy morning of watching Emma work, Poppy is usually ready for a long and peaceful nap.
Poppy has five modes
Poppy is a fairly simple companion. She generally operates in five modes:
- Watching Emma cook
- Following Emma around the kitchen
- Inspecting ingredients from a safe distance
- Appearing unexpectedly in recipe photographs
- Sleeping
When she is not observing a new recipe, accompanying Emma around the house, or investigating an interesting sound from the kitchen, she is usually resting somewhere nearby.
Part of the Recipnest family
Recipnest is first and foremost a food website, but Poppy has naturally become part of its personality.
She appears in kitchen moments, behind-the-scenes photographs, and the occasional unexpected corner of a recipe image.
Her relationship with Emma is an important part of those moments. While Emma develops, prepares, and photographs the recipes, Poppy remains nearby as her companion and unofficial supervisor.
